About us, well really just me

Hello, I’m Brett Kohlhardt, the owner, operator, and founder of Recovery Works Massage Therapy. Besides that, I am an endurance athlete geek who loves training for triathlons.

I began Recovery Works Massage Therapy after working a few years in the corporate massage spa industry gaining an immense amount of experience, and honing my craft. However, my path to becoming a massage therapist took over a decade.

In that time, I raced collegiate cycling and cross country for Fort Lewis College. While I competed, I also earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Upon graduating I went to nursing school for two years before figuring out that nursing didn’t quite fit me.

At this point I spent several years within the food service industry, and then in credit card processing; All the while working as an assistant volunteer cross country and track & field coach for the Durango High School.

I then moved states and began pursuing a career within the finance industry in California. Not feeling at all fulfilled, I finally pursued something that I had been half heartedly thinking about for a long time, massage therapy. Once I began massage therapy school at the National Holistic Institute, Sacramento Campus, I loved it. I had found my calling, my place.

Now I am lucky enough to have started my own business where I get to take all these experiences I’ve learned through my academic, professional, and athletic life and put them to use by helping others through the power of massage.
